Build a hedge plan around your space and budget before choosing a quantity. Use the planner on this page for an estimate, then confirm plant suitability and spacing for your site.
Choose your starting size
- 5 gallon: a smaller starting plant. Compare its listed height and allow for the time and care needed to reach your desired screening.
- 15 gallon: compare the listed starting height and price with the smaller option. A larger container does not guarantee a completely solid screen on day one.
- 25 gallon or box sizes: consider the initial plant size, delivery access and planting requirements. Availability and listed heights vary by variety.
Gallon and inch sizes describe nursery containers. Product heights are approximate, and individual plants vary in shape and fullness. Use the selected variant's price, not the collection's starting price, when estimating your order.
Five details that make a better hedge
- Length and width: measure the planting strip and note any gaps, gates or areas that must stay clear.
- Target height: describe your privacy goal and whether you prefer a clipped or natural appearance.
- Site conditions: note sun exposure, drainage, irrigation and your city or ZIP code.
- Growing room: flag nearby paving, walls, utilities and structures. Allow space for growth and pruning access.
- Ongoing care: tell us how often you expect to prune or whether you need a maintenance quote.
Use the estimate correctly
Enter your measured length, plant and size, then review the spacing and end allowances. Do not use one spacing rule for every variety. The planner estimates a straight row; corners, curves, access gaps and site conditions can change the final quantity.
Plant subtotal = selected price per plant × quantity. Add applicable tax and delivery. Eligible delivery costs $40 below $349 and is free from $349, based on merchandise after discounts and before tax. Design, installation, removal and maintenance are separately quoted.
Check before ordering
- Confirm the selected plant, container size, quantity and listed approximate height.
- Check address eligibility and delivery charges at checkout.
- Allow 2–14 business days for delivery; ask before ordering if you have a fixed deadline.
- Confirm access for unloading and whether planting help is needed.
